Help Spread the Word

If you are excited about International Book Giving Day, please consider encouraging others to participate.

We have reached a lot of people in a mere 7 days! We are excited about the enthusiasm for the project and stories of people giving books. It would be fantastic if everyone in the world had a proper invitation.

Thank you very much to everyone who has helped spread the word so far. A big thank you to Zoe of Playing by the book! Thank you to all of the bloggers who have blogged about this. Thank you to everyone who has invited friends, family and others to participate via email, Facebook, Grinnell plans (:, Yahoo groups, Twitter, Pinterest, and a variety of other means.

First, make sure that…

  • Your name is on our list of participants.
  • If you are an author, your name is on our list of author participants.
  • You have submitted a photo or comment of your act of giving. While not required, we are really excited about the idea of people submitting and sharing photographs. These need not be good quality. We are looking for snapshots of people giving books from around the world that we can share, celebrate, and hopefully will inspire others.

Then, encourage others to participate…

  • Invite others to participate. If you are a librarian, invite other librarians. If you are an author, invite other authors. If you are a teacher, invite other teachers. Invite your friends and family. If you work for a literacy nonprofit, let your supporters know about International Book Giving Day.
  • We are looking for ways to invite people outside the U.S. and U.K. to participate. If you know of an author from India who might participate or a blogger who might write about Internatinoal Book Giving Day in Spanish or French, invite them to do so.
  • Connect with International Book Giving Day via Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest, and repost, retweet, and repin when you feel moved to do so.
